Dec. 29--
Rev. Judy Turner, of Christview Ministries will be with our congregation on January 25. Many will remember Judy from prior elder workshops she has held with us including our mission/visioning project in 2005-2006.
Judy will deliver the morning message and then meet with the elders - all elders currently serving or not, trustees, officers and committee chairs in the afternoon. She will lead the group in an exercise on discerning Spiritual Gifts. The elders will then be scheduling small group meetings afterwards that will meet for four weeks. Through scripture, meditation, and sharing, each member of the congregation will be empowered to discern their spiritual gifts.
In our last round of small group meetings, 90 members of the congregation participated in the process of asking the Spirit what the mission and vision was of First Christian Church, Wheeling.

Dec. 29--A service in the midst of all the holiday chaos, to acknowledge that not everything may be merry in life was held at First Christian during Advent. "To try to pretend that all is well when you are struggling with grief, depression, lost income, illness or loneliness is not beneficial to yourself or anyone around you. It's okay to feel bad during the holiday, and this service is a safe place for that," noted Rev. Maggie Sebastian.
