Serve & Play: Men of the Big Round Window Have Big Weekend Plans

June 19--The Men of the Big Round Window will be working at the local Soup Kitchen on Saturday morning and then on Sunday evening they will head to Washington, PA to watch a Wild Things baseball game.

Men Plan Mission Projects & Fun Events; Elect Leaders for One Year

 

 

See Joe Campeti to reserve your ticket to the Washington Wild Things game on Sunday, June 22. 

The deadline for reserving a seat is May 28.  Tickets are $8.

 

 May 17--The Men of the Big Round Window met Tuesday evening.  The twelve men planned for Mission projects, a baseball game, and elected leaders.

 

The men will begin painting the sanctuary May 20, will go to a Wild Things baseball game on Sunday, June 22, and will be choosing dates to work at the Soup Kitchen.

 

Roger Cole will serve as President, Roger Smith will serve as Vice President, and Steve Cole will serve as Treasurer for one-year beginning immediately. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m.

 

Sanctuary Painting In Progress

May 20--The Men of the Big Round Window began painting the sanctuary today at 9 a.m.  One group of men worked through the morning and a second group arrived in the evening to continue painting.

 The men will repeat the work times on Wednesday if necessary.

Men Leave for Louisiana Before Sunrise

Feb. 4--Seven Men of the Big Round Window left for Lake Charles, Louisiana at 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  Rev. Sebastian prayed for their ministry in the Gulf and for traveling mercies as they began their journey.  The men traveled over 600 miles the first day and arrived at Lake Charles before 2 p.m. yesterday.

 

Brown Bags for the Boys is Sunday

Jan. 18--The Men of the Big Round Window will be selling complete brown bag lunches and soup after worship on Sunday to raise money for their mission trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana.

 

Men Plan Mission Trip to Louisiana; Spaghetti Supper to Help With Expenses

Oct. 16--The Men of the Big Round Window will be leaving on a mission trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana on Groundhogs' Day 2008.  In preparation for this mission trip, the men will be holding a Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 4 until 7 p.m.  to raise funds to help pay expenses.  Advance tickets will be available at $6.00 for adults, $3.00 children 6 and older, no charge for children under 6. Tickets at the door will be $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 and older. 

 

This trip is in conjunction with the Division of Homeland Missions, Disciples Hurricane Recovery Initiative. The men will engage in whatever projects the local folks deem a priority, ranging from landscaping to hanging drywall, flooring, roofing, painting, and plumbing. Statewide Men Retreat This Weekend; Local Men Gather October 2 to Plan

Sept. 19--The Men of the Big Round Window will meet Tuesday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the church for a meal and planning session.  The men will decide their next mission.  Several possibilities have been murmured about including a Mission Trip to the Gulf Coast, a Pancake Breakfast, and a Men & Boys Bowling Night.  Come with your ideas and an appetite.

 

The West Virginia Men's Retreat begins Friday, September 21 and continues through Sunday, September 23.  If you're still interested in attending contact Tim at 304-242-3209 or timgraves@trainingwheels4ece.com.

 

Men Help Install Playground for Children at Holy Family Child Care & Development

June 11--Ten men of First Christian Church assisted in installing a playground at Holy Family Child Care and Development Center yesterday afternoon. Tony Smith, Vincent Campeti, Carson Cox, Steve Cole, Roger Cole, Roger Smith, John Parr, David Nice, Charles Cole, and Kenneth Flouhouse all helped this local child care center sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph.

June 9--The Men of the Big Round Window will leave immediately following worship tomorrow to assist in the installation of the playground at Holy Family Child Care and Development Center.

 

 

Men Feed Thirty (Not Quite Five Thousand)

Mar. 18--Outside of the comments, accompanied by John Parr mixes pancake batter.laughter, from several women, "Glad to see the men in the kitchen where they belong", "If Mark and John are cooking, where are Luke and Matthew?" and the ever popular "Hey! Can I get a little service over here!" the Men's Pancake Breakfast during the Sunday School hour was a success.  The men prepared and served pancakes, sausage, and bacon accompanied by warm syrup and a choice of milk, coffee, water, or orange juice.

 

The men viewed this as a practice session for "going public" with a pancake breakfast fundraiser for mission.

The men will serve breakfast from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. for those present during the Sunday School hour.  This will serve as a small-scale dry run for the upcoming Pancake Fundraiser.

Men Meet Saturday for Rehearsal Breakfast

Feb. 20--The Men of the Big Round Window will meet Saturday morning, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. for a self-prepared breakfast that will serve as a trial run for the International Day of Pancakes Breakfast to be held on A man cooks.Saturday, March 17 from 8 to 11 a.m. The men are asked to bring an electric griddle if they have one to share. Men Meet, Eat, and Plan Pancake Meal

Feb. 6--Eleven men ranging in age from their teens to their seventies came together last pancakesevening for the first-ever gathering of Men of the Big Round Window. The group shared pizza, pop, and cookies while deciding their first service project will be to participate in the International Day of Pancakes.  The men will hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 17 from 8 to 11 a.m.  They will meet again on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. for a self-prepared breakfast that will serve as a trial run for the Pancake Breakfast. 

 

Free Pizza! Men Meet Monday at Church

Jan. 31--The Men of the Big Round Window will meet Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 at the church. Randy Johnson Will Lead Study at West Virginia Men's Retreat

Randy JohnsonJuly 12--Can men talk about money and how it relates to their faith in Jesus Christ? Randy Johnson, Vice President of the Christian Church Foundation will be leading the men in study at the Regional Men's Retreat September 22-24 at Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley. The theme of the retreat is: Faith in Action: Money Matters.
