Nine Youth Head to Cedar Lakes Feb 16

Youth at Mid-Winter Retreat last year.Feb. 5--Nine youth have registered for the Mid-Winter Retreat at Cedar Lakes, near Ripley.  Andrea Brownlee, Dorothys daughter and seminarian at Lexington Theological Seminary, will be one of the leaders of the weekend. Shelley Klatt has agreed to serve as one chaperone for the group; a second chaperone is needed.  If you're in the 6th through 12th grades and would still like to go, it's not too late.  For registration information or to volunteer as a chaperone, contact Maggie Sebastian.

Youth Collect for Souper Bowl of Caring

Feb. 1--Our youth will hold soup pots at church doors on Souper Souper Bowl of CaringBowl Sunday. They will join young people in churches all across the country to collect money for those who are hungry and hurting.

In 2006, 11,000 groups in all 50 states and outside the United States participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring generating over $5 million.

All of the money collected is donated to a charity selected by the participant. None of the money is sent to Souper Bowl headquarters. Organizers only ask that each participant report their collection so national totals can be determined and announced. Our church will donate the Souper Bowl collection to a local hunger group. Since the Souper Bowl of Caring became a national grassroots event in 1993, more than $33 million has gone to help those in need. Please support the youth of our church in this effort to love our neighbors by dropping your dollar in the soup pot on Souper Bowl Sunday.
